Our story

In 2019, while on vacation in Ghana following our return to the Netherlands after years abroad, we encountered Enoch Agbemenu along the Takoradi coast. Enoch, a local artist, showcased his captivating art, souvenirs, and crafts. Eager to bring a piece of Ghana back home with us, we purchased bags, artwork, and souvenirs from Enoch.

Upon returning home, we reflected on our initial meeting with Enoch. He shared the challenges of selling paintings, and we couldn't bear the thought of his exquisite art languishing in his store. The following day, we approached him with a proposal—to promote and sell his artwork in Europe. Enoch agreed, and with limited funds, we purchased a bulk of his paintings, embarking on this endeavor at the age of 21.

Over the years, we navigated the complexities of importing paintings through family members traveling to Ghana. The framing process required experimentation with various materials and methods. It took us a year to decide on the gallery's name, vision, and goals.

Initially selling to friends and family, we participated in events to gauge the market's response. Despite a slow start, our efforts gained momentum, encouraging us to invest more time and energy. Collaborating with similar initiatives focused on African art and culture, we expanded our network, forging connections with both clients and artists like Enoch.

As we completed our studies, we committed more time and effort to the gallery, fueled by the positive feedback and a desire to broaden our perspective. In 2023, we welcomed a new artist, Darko, from the capital of Ghana. His remarkable art met our gallery's standards, and he eagerly joined our initiative.

Our goal is not merely to sell cultural artifacts but to forge a deeper connection between people and their roots. Recognizing the scarcity of opportunities for artists to gain recognition, we aim to elevate local artists, not just as souvenir creators but as cultural ambassadors. Our aspiration is to create a prestigious image around Ghanaian and African artists, bridging the gap for those seeking a reconnection with their heritage and culture.
